Adventures

Bug is Almost a year. I can't believe it!! The only problem with it almost being a year is the fact that I'm making things change for her. I've changed her bed, I've made her go to Texas, and I'm taking away the binky.

Adventure #1 Bed change

A few weeks ago I decided I would start getting Bug to sleep on a Big Girl bed. My first step was to remove the crib. Bug cried when I did that! But after a day, she slept really well on her crib mattress on the floor.

When my friend moved, she gave us a day bed with a trundle bed that goes under it. She currently LOVES her new bed!!!

Change #2: TEXAS

Two days after transitioning her to the day bed. we left for Texas to visit my sisters.

Waiting for mom to go potty so we could go through security

Waiting for Bug to finish her drink so we can dump it out before going through security

Last picture of hubby before we left

I didn't take pictures of the plane ride or of the first day in Texas. I was way to exhausted after trying to tame a baby on the air plane. Bug slept for half the flight, but every time i closed my eyes i would get Air Sick.

The first day was spent with my sisters. My older sister and I picked her 6 year old, Blinky as my dad calls her, up from school. Blinky LOVES Bug, no questions asked!! there were LOTS of hugs and playing with Bug, which made Burrito Baby (the three year old) jealous. She didn't enjoy having her sister's attention on Bug. The fist days evening was spent with my little sister. i got to see her awesome apartment. We painted our toes and watched Holiday Inn. We also made cup cakes and i ate frosting until i was sick !

In the morning of the second day, my older sister and I went to the Round Rock outlet center and wondered through some stores while Bug took her morning nap in the stroller. My younger sister showed up after her class and we shopped for birthday gifts for each other. It was way fun. At lunch I ended up eating at Church's Chicken. I think that's the best chicken I have ever had!!! I Love chick-fil-a, but Church's, at least the one I went to, had comparable chicken! After Blinky got out of school, we went to a park by my sister's home.

Bug trying on Blinky's sunglasses! "Oh i'm cool!!!'

Blinky posing for the camera

This is a WWII monument that Blinky was in LOVE with! She kept asking questions about the war and would tell us what she knew. . . she is so bright!!!

Getting ready to feed the ducks, "here batter batter"

They were so cute feeding the ducks!!

Burrito Baby and her mom

I didn't trust Bug to feed the ducks, so we stood and watched

Playing at the park

What Burrito Baby liked doing . . .

What Bug liked doing . . . "mmm yumm!! I can taste all the germs!!!"

The third day was spent at the Waco Zoo. It was only $9 to get in!! I about fell over when my sisters told me that!! The zoos here are either $20 or $40 to get into!!

The only still picture I could get of Burrito Baby

Sunscreen and milk . . . what a great mix!

Burrito Baby carried her map of the zoo out like this for most of the trip!! It was so cute to watch her run to the next exhibit and then fold up the map and look at the animals. And when we would start to move, she would unfold the map and start her run all over again.

"mom, it's hot! lets find some AC please!"

monkey with a shirt!

They had this great play area with ropes to either swing on or to through to hit a gong, it was pretty cool!!

Mom and Daughter looking at the lions

reptile house . . . this was SO cool!!!

The aquarium this was Awesome!!! (and totally makes me wonder why the zoo is only $9 instead of $40! I'm not complaining though!)

"humm this is so much more interesting than the fish" while playing with an electrical outlet . . . silly baby!

cousins!! good picture

Getting old waiting for the picture to be taken! I'm done!!

I didn't take pictures on friday. Older sister and I walked to a park and let the kids play for a little bit. we then walked around the neighborhood talking about life. Older sister ended up having a meeting to go to, so when younger sister got out of class, she and I went shopping. That evening we had a BBQ with the BEST ribs I've ever had in my life!!!

The last day was spent at a  park in Down Town Austin. It was So much fun!

The girls

Burrito baby

The girls bought a couple of flower balloons with a lady bug on top!!! they loved them!

This park had a pretty cool train that went through the park. here we are getting ready for take off.

Blinky with her flower and pet lady bug

Burrito baby and her mom before Burrito Baby's balloon flew off the train . . . it was sad to see it fly off, but Burrito Baby handled the loss well and said "thats ok, I get another one"

Blinkey was SO funny! I Think she had a crush on younger sister's man! She insisted on getting a picture with him while the camera was out (oh and she HAD to have a fry in her mouth, the mind of kids)

Bug at the Air Port!! We were waiting for loading to start

Still waiting . . . but happy! (she missed her morning and afternoon nap, I was shocked she was still pleasant!) She slept for most of the flight home though!
We were SO happy to see daddy when the plane landed! Although I had a blast with my sisters, I missed my hubby like crazy! I love my man!!! And I'm happy to be home

Adventure 3: NO BINKY

The binky is being taken away!!! HURRAY!! I hate that thing! I've never really liked binkies but it has been nice to keep the child quiet during church and putting her to sleep. I'm taking the binky away for selfish reasons, but for two other reasons as well. One, I know if I let her keep it, I will never have the courage to break her of using it. And two, we have no self control and when ever she cries we stuff it into her mouth (the rules we have are only when she's sleeping or at church, but if we see them, we give them to her, and it HAS to stop!!!)

Day 2 of life and already using the binky. the transition is not going to well. At night she goes right to sleep, but last night she woke up in a panic and I had to go in two times and rub her back so she could calm down. Nap time today was SO terrible!!! I about died! I spent 2 hours trying to get her to nap! She ended up falling asleep for 15 minutes behind her bedroom door. Her bed, which she loved before leaving for TX, is now empty (as seen in the image below).  When she woke up, she was so tired and grumpy that I ended up taking her for a ride to the mall and she slept for an hour while I wondered around stores and shopped for swim suits (I found two that I liked but I didn't have the courage to buy them).

 Bug's bed during nap time.

It was such an exhausting day that I almost cried when I told someone it's been a long day and she told me the day was only half over! Bug was up at 5 am wanting breakfast and wanting to play. It is FINALLY the end of the day, and I still have not had a nap . . . I'm exhausted and I'm going to bed!
