The Toddler's Creed
I would like to share this poem with you. For those of you that either work with kids, or have kids of your own will understand the humor in this.
The Toddlers Creed
by Dr. Burton L. White
If I want it,
IT'S MINE!
If I give it to you and change my mind later,
IT'S MINE!
If I can take it away from you,
IT'S MINE!
If it's mine it will never belong to anybody else,
No matter what.
If we are building something together,
All the pieces are mine!
If it looks just like mine,
IT'S MINE!
If it breaks or needs putting away,
IT'S YOURS!
now, i deal with situations like this every day. . . "Teacher! I got off my bike and Abbey took it from me!" "now Cassie, you got off the bike and . . . " "BUT ITS MINE!!!"
I love my job, just so you know. I love explaining to them why the bike isn't theirs anymore. Its so neat to watch each kid grow, and learn that everything isn't "mine." I love teaching them circle time, and having the chance to plan activities for them. I am so happy where i'm working. ITs amazing. But sadly, hours are going to be cut back after Christmas since a couple of the moms have the opportunity to be stay at home. Lucky them, lucky kids, unlucky me. I'm going to miss them so much.
